Dawn

“Hello” I said when I fell out of bed this morning. I smiled at the unusual greeting to no one in particular. It was just me and Dawn.

Dawn seemed brighter on hearing my voice. She was deaf and dumb and the only way to communicate was through sign language. I loved Dawn, the way she drew attention in a subtle say to no one in particular and to everyone in her wakening, the way roosters raised Dawn’s presence and the way Dawn blushed in her morning glory. Then,,,

Dawn in her brilliance became Day. Surely that was a “Goodbye” I heard. Imagined? “Hello” again?

I know Dawn will bring another Day, another “Hello”, “Goodbye” in her opening act.
