A Heavenly Parody

There’s this gaga lady who’s so sure that she’s buying a stairway to heaven with no misgivings. The stores were closed but she had a special word that proved to be the key.

Me and you, my voice, heard the piper’s cry, “There’s room inside. It’s free… just follow the footsteps to the Zeppelin”

So we took the stairway to Heaven to attend the great gig in the sky. Up, up, up passed the Russel Hotel we soared to the heaviside layer where there was a bridge over the troubled waters flowing under the bridge. A sign on the wall said, Don’t look down.”

Guarding the gig’s entrance was a rather large jovial fellow called sweet Pete. He was the official bouncer and he was keen on turning away some wayward sons telling them, “Don’t you cry no more.” Pete called out, “Hey Jude, Hell has frozen over please can you fire up the cauldrons to make them feel at home here.

Suddenly it was my turn and Pete asked of me, “What brings you here songyboy?”

“Well Pete my voice says, God put a smile 😃 on my face.” I said.

From our seats in the heaviside layer we could see forever. There was Lily who was here, dressed in pink with a talisman hanging around her neck that contained her medicinal compound. She was haggling with those Pink Floyd dudes over the cost of that compound.

Lily said, “I gotta feeling…it’s gonna be a good, good night”.

“Oooh, It’s more than a feeling Lily you know.” added Brad from the Boston crew who were having a tea party after landing in their logo spaceship. They were chatting about a girl they used to know who slipped away. Amanda was her name.

Across the way we heard Chris, “This my friends is the adventure of a lifetime.” He added this in a cold way only to interrupted be the loudspeakers blaring this message, “Hey lysin’t Pete. Don’t you call us ‘cause we owe our souls to the company store.”

“It must be those vendors selling peanuts, candyfloss and Eskimo pies.” piped up Jeremy in his tailored suit but it was Lucy in the sky with diamonds 💎 on the souls of her feet 🦶 that made the crowd gasp.

The opening band had smoke rising over the troubled water and the smell of cojitas rose up through the air on a dark deserted stage high away.

Perhaps the medicinal compound had something to do with it but those Floyd dudes had done a number on the dark side of the moon 🌚 and that was this great gig in the sky. Clare Torry joined them performng the wordless vocals in this gig as if complaining about the sliding guitar and Hammond keys.

Appropriately Led Zepplin performed the closing number about a stairway to heaven clearly stating more than once that they wondered about it all.

We were on top of the world 🌎. I said to Lily who was here, “Didn’t we have fun.” We descended on the stairway that had turned to an escalator to cope with the volume of folks attending this space oddity to the sound of a tribute to the stairway.
