The pierogi or its variant the “perogy” is a favourite Canadian morsel originating in Eastern Europe. It is made of unleavened dough filled with mashed potatoes, cheese and sometimes sauerkraut or fruit. This dumpling is normally fried or boiled before consumption.
Recent events tell that the appeal of this delicacy has taken on a political flavour, extending it to “proroguing.” Were too many perogies inhaled over the holidays, causing a slur in demanding another? “Please give me another perroguey!!!!!” And with that we are without government and leadership.
We know that “rogues” abound. Our “dough” has been wasted with this “cheesy” action. We have been mashed, dumped and fried. Are we sour and boiling? You betcha?
