Good morning Funky Folks. I woke to find myself back in Music Land and it proved to be a “Walk on the wild-side of life.” for there greeting folks was Major Tom. This was a “Space Oddity” in itself,
Without formalities he said to me, “Set the controls for the heart of the sun,” then added while pointing to “The house of the rising sun”… …“…You go there sunny boy.”
Right at the entrance was the “Sun Meditation” room. I joined the small group who were “Staring at the sun.” It was a “Turquoise Hexagon Sun.”
The instructor’s Sundress absorbed my attention so I didn’t hear her say, “Take a sun-shower.
At that moment Major Tom stepped in and asked, “Who loves the sun..?” Now it was quite clear that Major Tom and the Sundress had something going when in unison they said to each other, “I’m basking in the “Sunshine of your love.”” You could see Major Tom was major happy ‘cause he had “Sunshine on his shoulder.”
The static voice of the HAL 9000 computer broke-up their shenanigans. “Major Tom…“Sail for the sun.” it said.”
Parting was such sweet sorry. The small crowd, Major Tom and myself ascended into the rocket-ship. Sundress, in a state of some undress from the shenanigans left to join Ground Control. My space oddity had begun. It was the year 2001.
In no time at all we were face to face with Helios, sitting in his teacup and Apollo. “We are the sun guards who block the way, “Who goes there?” they challenged.
“Why it’s Uncle Tom“ said Hellos.
Apollo ignoring Helios’s blunder checked his script and asked us for the password. We looked down on Earth and replied, “The Blue Danube.” Apollo warned, “Here comes the sun.”
Before we knew it we were “Under the sun.”
We didn’t wait long before contact was made. “Ground Control to Major Tom, proceed through that “Black hole in the sun.”
Before we knew it we were “Up on the sun.” It was hot there, Sweating, we screamed “What in hell’s name is going on?”.
“Major Tom to Ground Control…and through the sobbing we heard, “Mayor Tom you have conquered what the Romans thought was an “Unconquered Sun.”
Then the instructor’s voice broke through the ships loud speaker, “Ground control to Major Tom. “I love you.” “Don’t’ look back at the sun.” and then, “ Put your lights on.”… “Come home my E.T.”
To which Major Tom advised, “Don’t let the sun catch you crying.”
We were back in “The house of the rising sun” in time for breakfast where the only choice on the menu were eggs, sunny-side-up.
“This house is a place that ruined many a poor boy.” said Major Tom, as we parted ways. I wasn’t sure if he was referring to his affair with Sundress or to the fact that I would never be the same again.
Now I was on the other side of the wild side, “Walking on Sunshine.” and vowed to, “Follow the sun” singing, “Let the sunshine in.”
