Having checked out the billboard’s top 10 songs out of 100. I thought it best to keep my own list to stay in a comfort zone. I dug deep folks almost to Australia to find the genius gems that strike a chord and send tingles to the heart. Some songs surfaced to generate a playlist to keep in my back pocket, in no particular order except for a blurb of why they made it onto the playlist. It’s best not to overload so we will take it slow and easy. #mymusic.
Probably my first foray into music was unintentional. It was “The Beatles”…
“It’s been a hard day’s night”
As an eight year old I was naughty to say the least chasing sisters with frogs and stuff. When my elder sister was dating I hid behind the couch in the lounge to evesdrop on the situation. If my memory serves me right this good old Beatles tune was playing on the gramophone. At least the dates work out. I sure didn’t get any brownie points when they found me hiding behind the couch but their surprise was worth it. It was 1964 and the year they got married.
“More than a feeling”
This Boston number hit the charts in 1976, my 20th year. To this dayIt remains a favourite of mine. Every time I hear it play I go a bit dilly, like I drop everything as the feeling moves me. At the time I was a student sharing a house with a couple of town planners and doctor who smoked. Occasionally a house party rumbled the foundations of the house and my studies. It was more than a feeling when Marianne walked away or was it Amanda?. It took five years to write this ‘feeling’ song but a lifetime to enjoy it.
