“Where are you taking me this morning, my Lovely and what’s this rush Dear-Heart?”

“Surprise, surprise! That’s why you’re in tow my Brainy”.

“Hold it, Don’t you dare do this. We have always communicated instantly. It has been a case of you say, I know and I say, you know”.

You know we’ve always worked that way so why now the sudden surprise. You could give me a hissy fit you know. That’s big trouble”.

Selfies

The intimate relationship between the heart and the brain is like an arranged marriage in that they had no choice in the matter; a pre-ordained and inseparable bond exits between them. They grew together from conception resulting in the instant understanding of each other’s thoughts’s and unselfish actions. Unselfish in the sense of dealing 24/7 with each other’s and other organs messaging and complaints.

“I dare say those were the best days of our lives. We worked as one and our whole was greater than the sum of our parts” said Dear-Heart and Brainy in unison. “We talked to and fed our organs and they gave us invaluable information.”

“A unified organization and one lean-machine if you ask me” said Brainy reminiscing.

“ But right now you are stressing me out and this is not good for our parts. Lively=liver is becoming livid and has asked me, “Is life worth living?” So what say you Dear-Heart. Slow down. No surprises now and tell me what’s happening. I sense you are beating way to hard.”

“Okay, okay. You’re right Brainy, tell you what, “Why don’t you push me? That way we will proceed at a reasoned pace, “So what if we are late.”

“Dear-Heart, thanks to you we have all systems functioning now that your impulse to go-go-go slowed nearly causing a giga-pop and now I know where we are going.”

Walking.

With Nordic walking sticks I get to pull forward on the front right stride coercing the left side stride forward in matching motion beckoning the right to copy, again. The rush has endorphins coursing round and round in a carousel and uses up to ninety percent of the body’s muscles. A measured recipe for a balanced being.

Posto Scripto: Push Me Pull Me came out of my attending a presentation of the ralationship between the heart and brain at TGH organized by ‘Heartlinks’ a community of transplant patients. My simplified account is but a scratch on the surface like a title is to a book.
