There’s Stuff Going On

It’s the beginning of the third year of this pandemic. Folks are tired and cranky. Cranky enough to jump in their trucks and drive across the county to the nation’s capital in Ottawa. Were they looking for a fight? They sure are in everyone’s face.

Let’s face it the general public are tired and fed up with the virus and the measures taken to prevent the spread: lockdowns, closing facilities mandates limiting restaurants, gyms and limiting social gatherings. Humans are social animals by nature and need each others contact.

And so we have conflict. Yesterday we had a glimpse of tractors adorned with Canadian flags on their way to Queen’s Park the provincial legislature in Ontario. The provincial premier stated unequivocally that they are not welcome and will be blocked from the downtown core. Police presence is high. A counter demonstration by Doctors and Healthcare workers is brewing as Queens Park is in walking distance from Toronto’s hospitals that have been shut down for the weekend. Currently tractors are parked just North of the Legislature where the farmers are barbecuing hot dogs and burgers or whatever in a party mode. The police have stated that a peaceful respectful demonstration is allowed under the constitution and they expect the farmers to go home at the end of the day. What happens tomorrow is anyones guess.

The media will be on it like a puppy on a bone.

In the Nation’s capital the truckers have settled in for the long haul, pun intended. The police are saying it’s a fragile situation. Crisis management consultants are being used. The truckers, a disguised fringe element want the prime minister’s head, figurately I hope. A counter protest is brewing by local residents and business’s fed up with the constant noise of honking horns and lack of respect for others rights.

Politicians are at loggerheads with the opposition urging the liberals to bring an and to the crisis. Where do you draw a line in the sand?

The Olympics is underway under the eyes Russia’s and Chins’a watch, whispering about war with Ukraine. Talk about conflict…!!
