Ohh Yes my Funky Folks I have a confession to make. I stumbled on the word UBUNTU by mistake. It entered my lexicon through the innocent purchase of a CD by Coldplay called ‘Everyday Life’. Lili had heard the track “Orphans”on the radio months ago before the full album was released. We listened to the full album four or five times on the return flight from Cape Town. I was hooked.
Then it crashed into me unsuspectedly when I watched the video on YouTube at home. have attached the “Everyday Life” song to the end of this little bloggo for clarity. Ubuntu covers the essence of our existence. This is deep, way down deep Funky Folks, but Ohh so true.
Intentionally the base typeface used in this blog is Ubuntu. John Donne’s quote “No one is an island” (1624) captures the idea in a different culture and time.
Ubuntu has roots in Xhosa and Zulu philosophy where “One Hand Washes The Other”. In other words we take care of each other, family, friends and strangers. Madiba personified Ubuntu.
What a wonderful world to strive for. Here it is Funky Folks…Ubuntu in Everyday Life.
I am because we are
