No fooling Funky Folks the Angry Birds I’m talking about sit scowling on my right shoulder. Their voices are silent sometimes, loud often and imagined all the time.

I imagine it’s a Black Parrot perched there squawking, censoring my work. This image may even have the bosses head on it bobbing “Do it again, Do it again”. That’s the bosses job – bossing, doubting, questioning. Take it or leave it. The wise Owl says “Take it.”

Or it might be an imagined Mocking Bird perched there, mimicking voices. Critical voices. Hard judgmental voices.

We criticize ourselves mercilessly.

“Listen up,” my squawking bird intones.

These internal voices just happen. Giving them a name, any name will enhance the conversation. Have to keep it quiet otherwise Funky Folks I will get strange glances from passerby’s. So Funky Folks if you see me walking ‘n talking to myself give me a break. I’m just sorting out my inner voices.

Walk the talk

Then there are external voices that hit my ears and eyes. An Angry Bird would tell me, “Oh it is such a shame when you create something and someone destroys it.” Filter that I tell myself

To quote Winston Churchill, “Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things.”

“it’s completely up to you how they affect you. Inside critics are really just trying to protect you. You can: Learn to dialogue with them. Give them new jobs. Turn them into allies. You can also dismantle/exterminate them.” says Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy.

Welcome the angry birds. They have a job to do…Explode!
