Funky Pumpkins

So today Funky Folks was the day for apple picking and what-a day it turned out to be.

It is a smooth running operation the Dixie Farms farm. One gets to go by appointment only so we arrived shortly before 10am. The cars were rolling in and spewing hordes of kiddies, their moms with suitable modes of transportation for them kiddies, donning jackets – it was cool. One could say it was funky.

We checked in, paid our dues – the equivalent of 30 cents per toe but if you wanted apples it was $2 per toe. A paltry sum for fun in the sun Funky Folks.

We opted to walk through the orchard. It was evident that Newton’s gravity thing worked as there were far more apples on the ground around the trees. The hanging fruit had been picked so it meant hoisting young Raiden up to pluck a Red Delicious or Empire from it’s spur.

Soon our bags were full of those apples a day to keep the Doc away and it was time to investigate the pumpkin patch on the far side of the farm.

The sea of orange seen from a distance turned into a playground for Raiden. He climbed the pumpkins, sat on them as a king on his throne surveying his patch. It was time to leave, time for a bite at the baseball ground in Inglewood after which we went to see the Cataract Falls near Forks of the Credit River full of fall colour.

This is iconic. It’s layered with meaning, prompted discussion and and because of it music never died. #lyrics #musicvideos
