So much has happened in the weeks since COVID-!9 took hold of our lives. The #StongerTogether medley of music aired on the weekend rightly paid tribute to our healthcare workers.
What struck me is the depth of our musical talent in Canada. I guess the Sam Robert’s lyric “When it’s forty below things move real slow” is a time maybe when music sucks the breath out of us. The messages of keeping a safe distance, stay at home and isolate were wrapped in the strength of this talent.
SR with “We’re all I’m this together.”
So one more time…
Funky Folks I went to the hardware store yesterday. I had to buy a tape measure you see. I heard that one had to keep a safe distance between oneself and other selves in the same predicament.
The young fellow behind the counter told me there had been a run on tape measures. It was hard to hear him as he was some distance away. The buds in my ear didn’t make it easy either nor the face mask he was wearing. They were outa stock he said. Zippo. None. I should check again soon he added dismissing me and turning to face the elderly lady next in line. I stepped aside pretty quickly I tell you.
Next thing I knew there were all these folks walking around with tape measures. Can you believe it they were keeping their distance from one another. Literally. Two meters at least. I turned to survey this bizarre scene and got poked in the eye by a beautiful tape measure. With one hand cupping my eye I stumbled away tripping over the brick I could not see. Before I knew it there was a host of tape measures surrounding me. They managed to lift me upright. I kept going down the sidewalk and honestly there in front of me were two magnificent tapes dueling in front of me. Fighting for space they were. The sidewalks are kinda narrow certainly not enough for two meters of separation. I wish I had a tape measure so I could join in. We could be the three musketeers, all spaced out.
I was sweating by this stage. This woke me up. I had been dreaming. My eye hurt somewhat so when i stepped out of bed I did’t see the tape measure lying on the floor…Oh no this is real. I held my head in my hands.
