The Perfect Storm

When two or more unrelated events occur at the same time adding to the severity of a storm or by analogy to an event it is known as a perfect storm.

Well Funky Folks it has been sometime since my last post. This morning I came to believe that I have been in mourning. This period of silence has been like a tortoise retracting it’s head into the safe haven of it’s shell on the crack of thunder and lightening or like the dumbfounded ostrich burying it’s head in the sand.

I have woken up in the midst of a perfect storm.

It was the tragic death of George Floyd that sparked the burning mass of marchers protesting the zealous actions of police, then and since, incident after incident, on and on. A revelation that systemic violence is rampant in policing.

The COVID virus had gone viral well before Floyd’s demise. The spots on the world map where COVID had been detected traced out of China as a rash or shingles might do on a human body. Horrendous numbers of people dying in Italy was a warning to the world. Spain followed. The virus traveled with people. WHO put the world on notice by announcing a pandemic. Countries scrambled to formulate policies. Limiting travel, legislating lockdowns and advising folks to stay at home and keep a safe distance from others outside began to work and flatten the impact of this virus.

BUT the combination of a viral virus and mingling masses of people have formed a perfect storm in which this virus will thrive. A revelation that the second coming has arrived.

This perfect storm has sucked the air out of our lungs and we gasp…

…“I cannot breathe”
